The Norman Children's Chorus is a community children's choir for students in grades 3 through 8 who love to sing. If your child has enjoyed choir camp or kids' choir at school or church, that experience may be further enriched by singing in NCC. Students in NCC represent over 20 different schools including public, private and home schools.
The Chamber Choir is directed by Sandy Knudson and is open by audition. Lynn Herbel conducts the Descant Choir.
Rehearsals for all choirs are held at Alcott Middle School on Monday evenings 6:00 - 7:30 P.M., September through April. Rehearsals provide the students with training in sightsinging, ear training, languages, and music from other cultures while also training students in musicianship as they gain mastery with rhythms, solfege and musical terms.
The group performs two major concerts annually as well as performing for community groups and with other choirs.
The choir travels every other year. Past trips have included one or two night trips to Branson and San Antonio to participate in music festivals. Fund raising opportunities are provided so that every child may travel with the choir.
