Students are greeted at the door by a teacher as early as 7:30 AM for extended hours, or what we call “Before care,” where they may participate in supervised games or activities.
The camp day officially begins at 9:00 AM where announcements are made, the Artworks song is sung, the group sings camp songs with movements, and sometimes campers are treated to a surprise performance. The tone is set for a fun, productive day!
By 9:15, the campers go to the class they have selected as their major (dance, theatre, visual arts, or LEGO™ robotics). A time of structured, typically outdoor, activities follows and then the children eat their sack lunches.
The afternoon schedule includes two additional classes, chosen from dance, music, visual arts, theatre or LEGO™ Creations (students choose three disciplines each session, although visual arts may be chosen both as a major and as an afternoon class).
There is another recreation period in the afternoon, a provided snack, and an occasional surprise activity. The surprise is sometimes a guest performer, or could be a special one-time art, dance or mime class.
The day ends at 3:50 with all students back in the assembly room for announcements and are then organized for pick up right at 4:00 PM. Extended hours, or "After care," is available until 5:30 PM.
